A group of passionate filmmakers and film lovers came together in the city today to announce a new trend taking shape in Kannada cinema- the trend towards shooting of films in Norway, and moving towards other Nordic countries.

As the selection for international locations in Kannada films grows, Amala Locations, leading international locations coordination company today organized a press conference to highlight this new trend and talk about the future directions.

Also present at the press conference were Ms Hanne Meldgaard, Minister-Counsellor, Royal Norwegian Embassy; Mr Desmond Chacko, Country Head, Finnair together with famous faces of the Kannada film industry- producers K Manjunath and Chethan Kumar and Director Suresh Yallappa.

Rocking Star Yash and leading lady Radhika will soon leave for Norway to complete the shooting of their upcoming film, Santhu Straight Forward.

Opening the press conference, Mr Richard Wallace, Director, Amala Locations, said 'countries like Norway and players like Finnair have come forward in supporting our efforts to showcase their beautiful countries on the silver screen. I have taken four film projects to Norway in the last 12 months, and with the kind of support we are receiving, you can expect many more films in these locations in the days to come'.

Mr Desmond Chacko, Finnar, said, 'We are proud to offer the best connections to Scandinavia, via our Helsinki hub for Delhi. The Nordics have a lot to offer for travellers, and the film industry is an effective vehicle for communicating what these countries have to offer to the Indian travellers.'

Mr K Manju also expressed happiness at the efficient and effective way with which the shooting in Norway has been planned. He also noted that he was looking forward to experiencing the beautiful locations of Norway.

'I am confident that in the next 4-5 years, Norway and also other Nordic countries will see a great increase in tourist numbers. It is a fact, wherever Indian films go, travellers follow', concluded Mr Wallace.
